Indiana Modernizes Esthetician Scope of Practice

HB 1131 expands the definition of “esthetician” to include:

• Eyelash lifts and tinting
• Eyebrow tints and lamination
• Microneedling

The bill defines microneedling as a cosmetic procedure that uses fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin at a penetration depth of at least 0.3 mm and not greater than 2 mm. At the request of the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, anyone offering microneedling must provide proof of advanced training or certification.
