Latex is a fluid substance produced by plants as a means of defense. This complex mixture comprises various compounds that exhibit antimicrobial, antifungal, and insect-repellent characteristics. It is estimated that more than 20,000 plant species produce natural latex compounds. While not all of these plants are utilized in skincare products, it is beneficial to be aware of the few that are.
