Barber, cosmetology, nail, wax, and esthetics schools are required to provide rosters of current students and students who attended within the previous six months. The roster must be provided in the manner, format, and frequency specified by the Virginia Board for Barbers and Cosmetology (Board).
On January 9, 2023, the Board revised the guidance document, which required schools to send student rosters via secure link. However, the email address included in the initial guidance document did not follow security protocols.
The Board has since created a secure link for schools to upload student rosters. All files will be encrypted and uploaded to cloud storage—cloud storage will comply with necessary security measures outlined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Documents uploaded to the cloud storage will only be accessible to authorized Board staff.
