California COVID-19 Update: Governor Newsom announces new website and tiered system

Governor Newsom announced a new COVID-19 website to identify what is open in California, available at https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy.

When visiting the covid19.ca.gov website, scroll down to “People want to know” and click on “What’s open in my county?” The website (https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy/) will allow members to find out in what capacity they are open—indoor or outdoor and with or without modifications. There may be county restrictions that apply as well.

NOTE: counties will not move up the tiers until they have been stable for three weeks.

Governor Newsom also announced that those who are still eligible for unemployment benefits or Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and who were previously receiving the additional $600 per week from the federal government (which ended at the end of July) will start receiving $300 per week from the federal government. It is our understanding that those checks will be distributed between September 6 and 10, 2020.
