California COVID-19 Update: Medical Massage Permitted Indoors

ABMP communicated with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) on August 28, 2020, and verified that medical massage therapy is now allowed to be performed indoors, regardless of which county you are in. The CDPH stated:

“Medical massage (massage done based on a referral from a doctor or chiropractor) is permitted indoors at this time because it is considered an essential sector under healthcare and essential activities are able to continue operating. Therapeutic massage must follow the personal services guidance and is permitted only outdoors in purple tier counties at this time. This search tool can be used to find what is permitted based on which tier: https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy/

Additional forms of massage therapy, including therapeutic massage, are allowed in certain conditions in various tiers, so please check the above website to see what is currently permitted in your county. https://files.covid19.ca.gov/pdf/guidance-expanded-personal-care-service...
