Massachusetts COVID-19 Update: Phase II begins June 8, 2020

Reopening Massachusetts (https://www.mass.gov/info-details/reopening-massachusetts) is moving into Phase II as of June 8, 2020. Businesses offering close-contact personal services may resume operations in Step 2 of Phase II. Unfortunately, a start date is yet to be determined for Phase II, Step 2. Per COVID-19 Order No. 35 (https://www.mass.gov/doc/order-preparing-for-phase-ii-reopening/download) issued by Massachusetts Governor Charles Baker, services permitted to reopen in Phase II, Step 2 include massage therapy, body treatments, Eastern treatments, energy therapies, waxing services and threading, peels and facials, nail care services, and makeup application services. We will notify you when a date is released, and you are permitted to return to practice.

Sector-specific protocols and best practices have been developed, and the state released the Safety Standards and Checklist: Close Contact Personal Services (https://www.mass.gov/info-details/safety-standards-and-checklist-close-c...) document for a safe reopening. Additionally, one June 8, 2020, the state updated the mandatory safety standards and recommended best practices for hair salons and barbershops that reopened May 25, 2020. We encourage you to review the new Safety Standards and Checklist: Hair Salons and Barbershops (https://www.mass.gov/info-details/safety-standards-and-checklist-hair-sa...) document that is applicable as of this date.
