South Dakota Proposed Massage Therapy Rules

RE: The South Dakota Board of Massage Therapy is considering amendments to the massage therapy rules.

The South Dakota Board of Massage Therapy is considering amendments to the state’s massage therapy rules. The largest change affects the licensing fee schedule (see below for more information). Public comments must be submitted in writing no later than July 13, 2020, via email at sdbomt@gmail.com or mailed to the following address:

ABMP has summarized the proposed changes below:

License Fee Schedule (20:76:02:02)
The proposed rules would introduce a $65 Initial Annual License Fee. We interpret this as a one-time fee an applicant would pay in addition to their application fee. The rules propose to increase the Inactive Status License Fee from $25 to $50. Finally, the rules would introduce a $65 Annual License Renewal Late Fee. Fees would also now be payable by credit card and online payment.

Changes to Name or Contact Information (20:76:01:07)
Applicants and licensees must notify the board in writing on a form prescribed by the board of any changes in name or contact information. This includes, but is not limited to, any changes in name, email, home or business address, or telephone numbers.

Inactive License (20:76:06:01)
An inactive license can be activated by submitting an application for license reactivation on a form prescribed by the board.
