Washington Advisory Board Vacancies for Private School Representative and Apprentice Salon Representative

There are currently two vacancies on the Washington Cosmetology, Hair Design, Barber, Manicurist, Esthetician, and Master Esthetician Advisory Board. If you are interested in serving on the Advisory Board and believe you meet the qualifications, please complete the application form before the March 8, 2021, deadline. If selected, applicants agree to serve a three-year term.

The Advisory Board is seeking to fill the following positions:

  1. Private School Representative
    Must be affiliated with a licensed private school of cosmetology, barbering, manicuring, and esthetics.
  2. Apprentice Salon Representative
    Must be affiliated with a licensed apprentice salon.

The board has varied responsibilities, including studying and analyzing existing policy, programs, and services to make recommendations for change in standards; interpreting community opinions, attitudes, and needs to agencies, the legislature, and the governor; and providing the public with information and interpretation of department and state policies, programs, and budgets. The Advisory Board meets every other month. If you are interested in serving, it might be beneficial to see what they do by reviewing the February 9, 2021, meeting.
